Q: What is Rhodium?
A: Rhodium is a brighter and harder metal. It is part of a family of precious metals called platinum
group metals (PGM) which also includes ruthenium, palladium, osmium, iridum, and platinum. The
density of rhodium allows it to hold its shape over a much longer period of time. Rhodium will not hold
up well against sea water, but is highly acid and chemical resistant, and will withstand contact from
bpdy chemicals and water.
Q: Why is Rhodium better?
A: Initial Brightness, Tarnish Resistant, Fewer Allergic Reactions, and Higher Density.
Q: How can I tell the difference between Rhodium and Nickle?
A: Fortunately, it is easy to see the difference between the two with the naked eye. Rhodium is a
naturally brighter metal than nickle. Rhodium is non-magnetic. You can not fake the quality of
rhodium over time. Nickle pendants, under normal wear and tear, will tarnish and fade over a relatively
short period of time. Rhodium will last a lot longer.
Q: How does the machine create a picture onto the pendant?
A: Our photo-impact printer permanently imprints digital images into hard acrylic and metal surfaces,
including aluminum, stainless steel, brass, gold, silver, and platinum. The machine uses a
carbide-tipped stylus to strike the surface with high speed and precision. It accurately reproduces
the delicate gradations of halftone, line art and/or text.
Q: What form of media do I need to create a dog tag/pendant?
A: We can import an image through our scanner. We accept photos from sizes: 8x12 all the way
down to a wallet size photo. Digital media such as: (Jumpdrives, Flashcards, CD, Digital Camera, etc.)
Digital media presents a much higher resolution and cleaner image due to no degradation or loss
in photo quality. Even though a photo may be clear there is always some quality loss when scanning
an image. We accept black and white photos.
NOTE: We prefer not to use any printed pictures from a Home PC, the picture after scanning will look
very grainy in appearance. Newspaper clippings, printed paper, dark and or heavily shadowed pictures
will have a poor quality image on the metal.
